Its rare when in a great movie the female lead delivers a flawless performance throughout the film but the male lead takes the national award. It happened in this movie because of the 7 minutes of brilliance that u are watching. Balu mahendra had intended to keep the climax simple and soft but kamal rewrote the screenplay in the last 7 minutes to make it more dramatic, and what we have is probably the best climax tamil cinema has ever seen and will ever see.

this movie will also be remembered as the great poet and lyricist Kannadaasan's last contribution to cinema. the song kanne kalaimaane was a rage among people the movie went on to be a super duper hit
