UNLIKE the self explanatory symbolisms and allegories that you will find in a K Balachander film, the ones in Kamal haasan's are not obvious by any standards. Hey ram is a case in point. HIS latest mass blockbuster dasavatharam too has its own share of symbolims and scene signatures, most of them, dealing with theists, theism, and how stupid they are.
The very first intro of the 12th century scenario is captured from a birds eye point of view. The camera, placed at the top of the tall temple descends on the vaishnavites and shaivaites standing near the shore. The first time we look at these religious people fighting for religion, we can only see ants (or something equally inconsequential). Thats exactly the point Haasan (ghost director/supervising director of the movie) is trying to make here. THEISTS ARE ANTS, he says. He repeats this in the chidambaran bhajan scene. The same camera, capturing similar religious people reciting what the camera thinks are pointless verses, from the same birds eye view.
NOT just that, the HERO of the movie is an atheist. And every Brahmin is deliberately either dumb or irritating or both. Asin's character, that of a staunch 21st century Brahmin is made to do things as inhumane as asking for a change-dress because the blood of a dying muslim made a mark on her chudidar.
This was just one instance of an atheist trying to tell the world what he feels about his theist counterparts. There have been similar accusations from the other side as well. Most theists argue that atheists are losers and take up atheism only for the sake of comfort.
They ask us that if one can't prove GOD exists then neither can one prove that IT doesn't. The only simple counter I can think of is that if one starts out trying to prove that every unknown thing actually exists, then God may not be the only thing that we'll find out. We will also come across ispasito, bostanakoodi, thevidikundi , bususkulalalala and so much of odd stuff like that.
Some one goes on to say, "a blind man can't see colours, but colours do exist" . BUT colours don't affect any blind person in any given way, just like how GOD doesn't affect our lives in any given way
