kamal the screenwriter had tried comedy,wholesome entertainment,action and everything other than tragedy. And when god wrote a tragedy, it had to be the best.

mahanadi is an extremely well written and well brought out tragedy and too shocking a movie for its time of release.

one can never forget the scene where kamal's daughter has nightmares from her stay in the prostitute centre or the climax when kamal cuts a part of his hand.

90% of the people who watched the movie had a very sad feeling leaving the cinema halls. thats where the movie succeeds. it makes u feel really bad.

once again so kamal's acting performance makes us forget the fact that its he who has written the movie.
